Spent Easter in this mildly creepy and shockingly sweaty bunny costume giving out Easter eggs to the cutest kids around at the WKDS Easter party!
WKDS is an amazing charity started by my very own wonderful mother many years ago! Its a great way to get families of children with disabilities like ours to together for support, friendship and fun!

Mermaids! Assemble!
Tonight I went to see my little brother dance on stage to hundreds of people.
In the eleven years my brother has been alive I have found one thing to be true. People with disabilities like Todd are not as limited by what they can’t do, as what people assume they can’t do.
Todd attends a mainstream school and does amazingly well. Recently he auditioned (completely on his on volition) for his middle school dance event; the teachers told my Mum that even though he was great in his audition, he wouldn’t be able to handle the pressure of a competition.
They didn’t ask if he’d be able to handle it, they had already made up thier mind.
If they had asked they would have learnt that he attends an out of school performance class aswell as a street dance class and had been practicing and working hard for weeks preparing for this big upcoming show…
What I want you to take away from this is people with Down syndrome (like Todd) and other learning difficulties aren’t entirely defined by that. Of course they have talents and weak areas, passions and ambitions! There is no blanket template for a person with special needs, and for as long as you don’t take the time to get to know them and continue to underestimate them, They will continue to prove you wrong.
